Joao Pedro already has big shoes to fill as Chelsea announce his Blues shirt number
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has a brand new player available for selection for the upcoming Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras.
Joao Pedro has joined the club, and was registered in time to play out in the United States should he be selected.
It has already been claimed that Maresca is a big fan of Pedro, with it looking as if the club are signing players that suit what the Italian is looking for.
Maresca wants plenty of attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and this is also set to be added to in the coming days by Jamie Gittens.

Joao Pedro already has pressure on him as Chelsea announce his shirt number
As always when a new player joins the club, there was talk over what shirt number the Brazilian would wear for his new side when it was finally made official.
The number nine shirt he had at Brighton was taken this summer by Liam Delap, and his first ever professional number would only become available if Trevoh Chalobah was sold this summer.
As per the official Chelsea website, Pedro has been handed the number 20 shirt which a number of key players have held before him.
Before becoming the new number 10 at Stamford Bridge, Cole Palmer enjoyed one of the best debut seasons seen at the club whilst wearing the 20 shirt.
The England international was not expected to make as quick an impact as he did after he made the move from Manchester City, but he has now established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Cole Palmer’s incredible stats as Chelsea’s Number 20
Palmer has been the go-to man for Chelsea ever since he joined the club, with the Blues frequently looking to him to provide a moment of magic.
This was best on display in the Conference League final. Chelsea were 1-0 down and labouring before the England international provided two brilliant assists in just a few minutes.
| Cole Palmer’s stats for Chelsea | Total |
| Games | 94 |
| Goals | 40 |
| Assists | 28 |
Pedro would be absolutely delighted with a start to life anywhere near Palmer’s at Chelsea, however will be more expected to take the load off the star attacker, with both having a real chance at starting together next season.
