Thiago Silva swaps shirts with former Chelsea teammate who idolised him growing up after Club World Cup clash
As Chelsea celebrated securing their place in the Club World Cup final, one of their former players was left heartbroken as the final whistle blew on their campaign.
Thiago Silva lined up at the back for Fluminense, and at 40 years of age was looking to build on what had already been a sensational tournament in the United States so far.
Silva planted fear in Chelsea fans’ minds by hinting that he may have had some inside knowledge on the tactics Enzo Maresca would deploy for the semi-final, however they were undone by sheer quality from Joao Pedro.
The Brazilian struck twice in glorious fashion either side of half-time, with Pedro deciding not to celebrate out of respect to his former side.

Silva was emotional at full-time as his time at the Club World Cup came to an end, with the entire Chelsea squad quick to embrace him at the end of the game.
Trevoh Chalobah was who the Chelsea legend decided to swap shirts with at the end of the game. The pair were utilised at the back together on plenty of occasions at Stamford Bridge.
The duo played 51 times together in a blue shirt, conceding 69 goals while on the pitch at the same time. A lot of these came during the nightmare campaign where Graham Potter was in charge.

Thiago Silva one of Trevoh Chalobah’s ‘idols’
While playing alongside the Brazil international, Chalobah revealed that Silva had been someone he had looked up to while developing his game with the Chelsea academy.
He told TNT Sports: “Thiago Silva was one of my idols growing up as a kid, and with how successful he’s been. It’s great sharing the pitch and training sessions with him.
“For me as a young player he is someone I need to look at for where I want to be, and where I want to go to.”
Chalobah’s excellent performance against Fluminense will put him in contention for a place in the starting side for the final, however will be up against a returning Levi Colwill following his return from suspension.
