Chelsea inflict embarrassing record on former manager Graham Potter after thrashing West Ham
West Ham boss Graham Potter certainly didn’t enjoy his reunion against former club Chelsea on Friday night.
It feels like the pressure is already on West Ham head coach Graham Potter, 50, at this very early stage of the new season. The Hammers followed up a 3-0 defeat against Sunderland in their Premier League opener by losing 5-1 at home to London rivals Chelsea.
Even though the Hammers took the lead early on through Lucas Paqueta’s goal, they crumbled by conceding five unanswered goals.
Chelsea’s away support mocked Potter during the league contest. The reality is he never truly won them over during his short spell in charge at Stamford Bridge. In fact, the Englishman was sacked after less than seven months in charge back in 2023.
Graham Potter gets unwanted Premier League record at West Ham
Following West Ham’s heavy loss at home to Chelsea, Potter now has an unwanted Premier League record with them.
Potter is the first West Ham manager in Premier League history to fail to get into double figures for points in his first 10 home games, taking just nine points in that time (Sky Sports).

Let’s wait and see if Potter can turn things around at the London Stadium, but it feels like he desperately needs help during what’s left of the summer transfer window.
Potter wasn’t happy with Chelsea’s transfer activity under him because of the scattergun approach. In contrast, it looks like he’s got the opposite problem in his current role at West Ham as their squad looks too thin.

Potter built up quite a strong reputation as a progressive coach earlier in his career, but things have started to unravel recently.
