Brazilian media deliver their Estevao Willian and Joao Pedro verdict after win over Chile

Brazil beat Chile 3-0 on Friday in a World Cup qualifier at the Maracana Stadium. Chelsea supporters will be excited to hear that three of their players featured, too.

Chelsea attackers Estevao Willian and Joao Pedro both started for Brazil, while club and international teammate Andrey Santos came off the bench in central midfield during the contest.

Estevao opened the scoring with his first senior goal for his country, producing an acrobatic finish on the line. West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes then added the second and third goals for the South American giants.

Estevao has impressed Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti, so it looks like the 18-year-old winger has a great chance of being a big part of the plans at next year’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Blues striker Pedro, 23, is still waiting to score his first goal in Brazil colours. Pedro has been nominated for Player of the Month because of his rapid start to the season for Chelsea, but can he become the main No.9 for his country?

Brazilian media hail Chelsea stars Estevao Willian, Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos

After Brazil’s comprehensive win against Chile, Brazilian newspaper Globo delivered their player ratings.

We’ve picked out how Chelsea trio Estevao, Pedro and Santos were graded.

Globo wrote: “Estevao Willian – 7.5/10. An excellent first half, capped off by his first goal for the national team, a bicycle kick, at the Maracanã Stadium. He was undeterred and was one of the most involved players, whether combining with Wesley on the wing, with Raphinha on the inside, or making individual runs. He played less of the game in the second half.”

Next, Globo posted: “Joao Pedro – 7/10. He hasn’t scored his first goal for the national team yet, but he’s impressive with his involvement and his ability to keep the team going. He played a decisive role in Estêvão’s goal. He excels in coming out of the box and often follows up plays with just one touch. He missed the goal, but he made an excellent impression.”

Finally, Globo added: “Andrey Santos – 6/10. He maintained Casemiro’s level of play. He dynamically exchanged passes and allowed Douglas Santos to move a little more freely on the left, supporting the first line of three.”

Chelsea have a potential superstar on their hands with Estevao Willian

Yet again, Estevao just put in the type of performance for Brazil that will only intensify the excitement and expectation on his young shoulders.

Blues defender Tosin Adarabioyo has been stunned by Estevao’s special quality following his arrival at West London in the summer. We’re similarly shocked by just how good and composed the youngster looks.

If you can handle the pressure of playing for Brazil, you should have the ability to play at any level.

He’s looked very exciting in his first few weeks as a Chelsea player, so we can’t wait to see what’s in store for him after September’s international break.
