Jamie Carragher clears up beef with Chelsea fans as he strongly praises 'brilliant' Enzo Maresca
Pundit Jamie Carragher has not been shy to criticise Chelsea over the last few years, however has now insisted that he is a huge fan of manager Enzo Maresca.
The Italian has come in for criticism following his in-game management during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester United, where his plan went into the bin just minutes in following Robert Sanchez’s red card.
Maresca’s immediate reaction was to replace both Pedro Neto and Estevao Willian, and he was forced into bringing Cole Palmer off later in the first half due to an injury.
Frank Leboeuf criticised Maresca for his management of Palmer, who was clearly struggling for fitness before the game even got underway.

Looking back, the manager will surely admit he got things wrong, especially with his second half tweaks when Casemiro also got himself sent off before half-time.
Despite recent events, Carragher has been full of praise for Maresca, however does have an issue with how little progress they have made since the new owners came into the club.
He said: “I think some Chelsea fans think I’ve got it in for them but I think the manager has actually done a brilliant job since he’s come in.
“My criticism with Chelsea is that the 3 and a half years the owners have been there and they have that team, we’re sat here saying they’ve got no chance for the league and Chelsea fans know that too.”

Carragher’s previous Chelsea beef
The former Liverpool and England defender has continued to criticise Chelsea throughout the last 12 months, and his prediction for them this season won’t impress Blues fans.
Carragher believes Chelsea won’t get out of the Champions League group stages, making this prediction before they were defeated by Bayern Munich.
It has not been a rarity for Chelsea to prove the pundit wrong though. Carragher also said the Blues wouldn’t beat Nottingham Forest and qualify for the top level of European football in the first place.
Maresca proved that to be a load of rubbish, however will be well aware of the challenge that awaits his side in Europe this season.
