Tony Cascarino names the Chelsea star who contributed to Robert Sanchez’s red card vs Manchester United

Tony Cascarino has highlighted the role that one Chelsea midfielder played in Robert Sanchez’s sending off over the weekend.

In just the fifth minute of Chelsea‘s Premier League clash against Manchester United, Sanchez was dismissed after denying Bryan Mbeumo a goalscoring opportunity.

During the game, former referee Mark Clattenburg discussed Sanchez’s red card, stating that the goalkeeper could have no complaints about it.

It cost Enzo Maresca‘s side dearly as they went on to lose 2-1, dropping more points following their 2-2 draw with west London rivals Brentford.

Tony Cascarino suggests Moises Caicedo was partly to blame for Robert Sanchez red

Former Chelsea forward Cascarino has also spoken about the incident, highlighting the part that Moises Caicedo played in it.

The midfielder has been one of the Blues’ best players this season, but Cascarino was not impressed with his defending in the build-up to Sanchez’s dismissal.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the pundit said: “It was a bit rash, to say the least. Like I said a bit earlier, the defending, you lose the header and then the tracker, Caicedo’s not tracked Mbeumo.”

Caicedo has a pretty good record against United, but it has taken a hit following Chelsea’s latest defeat at Old Trafford.

The Club World Cup winners have not won at United’s ground since 2013 and will now have to wait another year before they get another chance to end that awful record.

How many games will Robert Sanchez miss?

Although Sanchez was handed a straight red card for his foul on Mbeumo, the 27-year-old has not been given a three-match suspension.

According to the Premier League, Sanchez was dismissed for denying a goalscoring opportunity, as opposed to violent conduct.

As a result, he has only been given a one-game ban. It means that Sanchez will be available for Chelsea’s next Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, with his suspension set to be served in the Blues’ Carabao Cup tie with Lincoln City on Tuesday.

Filip Jorgensen will be expected to start that game, and if he shines, perhaps Maresca will give him a chance in the Premier League.
