John Obi Mikel claims £21m Chelsea player was 'all over the place' against Lincoln
Chelsea avoided a cup upset in midweek by coming from behind to beat League One side Lincoln City. However, plenty of Blues players put in worrying performances, including goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
The Blues secured a 2-1 away victory at Lincoln in the EFL Cup thanks to goals from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte.
Enzo Maresca’s side will travel to Molineux Stadium in the next round of the Carabao Cup to face Premier League opposition Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Even though they are still alive in this season’s domestic cup competition, Chelsea had winners and losers from the Lincoln match. In particular, Filip Jorgensen had a difficult night between the sticks.
The 23-year-old gloveman is the second-choice keeper behind Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge. Unless the £21m shot-stopper (BBC) drastically improves, we doubt he will break into the best line-up anytime soon.

John Obi Mikel not impressed by Filip Jorgensen
According to John Obi Mikel, Chelsea’s Jorgensen was “all over the place” during his midweek performance against Lincoln.
Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel said: “We talk about the goalkeeper situation. Jorgensen was all over the place [against Lincoln]. He was flapping everything. When he came out, he was flapping everything. He couldn’t punch the ball. He doesn’t give me confidence.”
It was reported in the summer that Jorgensen was contemplating his Chelsea future despite only moving to West London in 2024. The young keeper may have enjoyed success last season by playing a key role in winning the Conference League, but it doesn’t feel like he’s ready to nail down a position in the best XI.
It is a bit puzzling to note that Chelsea believe Jorgensen has ‘elite potential’ moving forward because he’s nowhere near top status at this moment.

Robert Sanchez must return against Brighton
It feels like a no-brainer for Chelsea head coach to select Sanchez to start in goal this Saturday afternoon at home to Brighton in the Premier League.
Last weekend, Sanchez’s red card against Manchester United was a major reason why they lost 2-1 at Old Trafford. However, he’s already served his one-game suspension with the Lincoln fixture, so he’s available again to face Brighton.
Jorgensen had a chance to make a case for himself against Man Utd and Lincoln, but the reality is he looked pretty timid in both games. While Sanchez has his fair share of criticism, he’s still the best goalkeeper in the squad right now.
