Moises Caicedo had really embarrassing VAR moment following sending off in Ecuador vs Argentina

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo had a couple of moments to forget in Ecuador’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina.

Ecuador were able to beat their South American rivals 1-0, but Caicedo was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.

Caicedo picking up cautions is something that Chelsea supporters have become accustomed to, with the 23-year-old being handed 11 in the Premier League last season.

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo wanted VAR to review second yellow card

During Ecuador’s clash against Argentina, Caicedo was dismissed in the 50th minute after a foul on Nicolas Gonzalez saw him pick up a second yellow.

The Chelsea man protested his innocence, though, and even called for VAR intervention, as per El Diario.

However, with Caicedo earning a second booking rather than a straight red, the VAR could not get involved.

Truly, then, Enzo Maresca‘s star midfielder produced a couple of moments that he will not want to look back at!

Overall, Caicedo has still been a fantastic player for both club and country. In fact, Caicedo is one footballer Chelsea view as untouchable.

While the Ecuador international has attracted some interest from Saudi Arabia, he will not be going anywhere any time soon.

Moises Caicedo set to miss first game of 2026 World Cup

Caicedo will be feeling absolutely gutted following his two yellow cards against Argentina. As a result of them, the former Brighton & Hove Albion player will be suspended for his nation’s first game of the 2026 World Cup.

Hopefully, Caicedo does not pick up too many suspensions in the Premier League. Chelsea have just lost Dario Essugo to a serious injury and are often without Romeo Lavia because of his own fitness issues.
