‘There are no problems’: Player said his teammate actually told him he didn’t want to join Chelsea
Lamine Yamal and his Barcelona teammates were really keen to know what was going on between Fermin Lopez and Chelsea during the last transfer window.
For much of the summer, Chelsea had been chasing Xavi Simons, only for the attacking midfielder to end up at their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur instead.
While Simons was a key target for them, Chelsea switched their focus towards Lopez in the final days of the transfer window.
In the end, though, the Club World Cup winners could not convince the 22-year-old to move to Stamford Bridge.

Fermin Lopez happy at Barcelona
Lopez’s decision to remain at Barcelona means he will continue playing alongside the best young player in the world, Yamal.
Yamal has now shared a conversation that the Barcelona dressing room had with Lopez after Chelsea came knocking.
Speaking to RTVE about Lopez, Yamal said: “He’s fine and happy as always. At Barca, if someone leaves, it’s their decision. We’re a young, united group where there are no problems between us, and we enjoy the club we’re at.
“I don’t think anyone wants to leave. We jokingly asked him what was going on with England, but he told us he wanted to stay, that he was happy.”
Lopez may be happy at this moment in time, but that could easily change as the season goes on. The Spain international is not an automatic starter at Barcelona, being named on the bench in their previous game.
In terms of arrivals, it was a very quiet deadline day for Chelsea after their failure to add Lopez to Enzo Maresca‘s squad.
Facundo Buonanotte was their only new signing, with the Argentine arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Marc Guiu was also added to Chelsea’s first team, but he was not purchased, instead being recalled from a loan at Sunderland following an injury to Liam Delap.

Fermin Lopez flattered by Chelsea interest
Following the closure of the transfer window, Lopez has spoken to the media about Chelsea’s interest in him.
While he opted against a move to Stamford Bridge, the Barcelona attacker viewed the Blues’ desire to sign him as a compliment.
He told Mundo Deportivo: “It’s always a compliment when there’s interest from other clubs, but the truth is, I always had the idea of staying at Barca and being able to succeed here.”
If Lopez cannot hold down a starting spot in Hansi Flick’s team this season, perhaps his stance on a move to west London may change in January.
