Chelsea’s plan without Delap
It is likely that Joao Pedro returns to the striker position in the absence of Delap, despite him impressing greatly in a slightly deeper role.
The Blues have brought back Marc Guiu from his very brief loan spell at Sunderland, however did allow Nicolas Jackson to leave the club to join Bayern Munich.
It remains to be seen what the Blues decide to do when it comes to EFL Cup games, given the fact Guiu is now ineligible to play after featuring for Sunderland.
Maresca may turn to the youth for those games, and could strike gold with Shumaira Mheuka following his excellent start to the campaign for both club and country.
