Chelsea wonderkid Kendry Paez receives first award nomination since Strasbourg loan

As Chelsea reap the rewards of signing Estevao Willian, one of their other top young signings is making his mark on loan away from the club.

Kendry Paez was signed with similar hype to Estevao, however he is currently working towards a career at Stamford Bridge during a loan spell at Strasbourg.

Strasbourg chiefs are delighted with Paez’s impact so far, with them very much being used for the Ecuadorians’s development to get him ready for Chelsea.

The same occurred for Andrey Santos, who spent 18 months with the Ligue 1 side and became one of their best players before making the transition to West London.

Kendry Paez nominated for Ligue 1 Young Player of the Month

Given how young Liam Rosenior’s side is, Santos was named captain of the club on occasion, and will be hoping that experience helps him stand out to Enzo Maresca.

After Paez scored for the first time for Strasbourg, it set him up to enjoy a very strong September with the French club.

This has been rewarded with a nomination for the Young Player of the Month award, with him up against Kader Meite and Tylel Tati.

Paez copied Joao Pedro’s goal celebration when he found the net last month, and will now be looking to continue his strong club form onto the international stage.

Paez ready to feature for Ecuador

While Moises Caicedo will remain at Cobham during the international break, Paez will be with the Ecuador squad for their fixtures against Mexico and USA.

The youngster is back amongst the first team squad after a spell of concern regarding his attitude, however current manager Sebastian Beccacece has been singing his praises ahead of the upcoming games.

Beccacece praised Paez’s work rate, stating that he has been the hardest working member of the squad of late.

This will be good news for Chelsea chiefs, who will be hoping any youngster brought into the squad will have a similar impact to what Estevao already has.
