Steve Sidwell thought one Chelsea player was completely anonymous during Champions League win vs Benfica
Steve Sidwell felt one Chelsea attacker was really quiet against Benfica on Tuesday night.
Pedro Neto shone for Enzo Maresca‘s side, while Alejandro Garnacho was also able to make an impact after his cross was turned into Benfica’s net by Richard Rios.
That own goal helped Chelsea to win 1-0 and earn their first points of the Champions League campaign.
Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte were the other two attackers who started for the Blues on the night. Cole Palmer was missing as he recovers from a groin injury.
Steve Sidwell thought Tyrique George had quiet game against Benfica
With Liam Delap still out injured and Joao Pedro not 100% fit, Maresca decided to start George up front.
The teenager was not able to influence the game, though, with Sidwell feeling that he was particularly quiet during the opening stages of the match.
Covering the match for Sky Sports, the former Chelsea midfielder said: “George has touched the ball three times in 26 minutes. He is trying to make runs, and stretch Benfica, but he is not getting the ball.”

George’s inclusion in the starting XI surprised some Chelsea supporters, as Marc Guiu was available.
Guiu has not played a single minute of football since being recalled from his loan at Sunderland at the end of the summer transfer window.
George almost left Chelsea in the same window, but his move to Fulham fell through at the last minute.

How many touches did Tyrique George finish the game with?
As the game went on, George could still not find a way into it. In total, the winger had just 15 touches of the ball before being taken off on the hour mark, according to Sofascore.
He also completed just eight passes, showing how quiet the Chelsea academy product was.
George was able to make an impact in the Blues’ 2-1 win against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup, though, scoring a very good equaliser that night.
George is capable of popping up with an important goal, as he showed against Fulham last season, but the 19-year-old is not a long-term solution for Chelsea in the striker position.
