Matty Cash says Chelsea star Moises Caicedo does something better than any other footballer
Chelsea’s recent form has pretty much ended their Champions League hopes and Moises Caicedo is one player struggling for form, but Matty Cash says he does something better than any other player.
The Blues are yet to even play this weekend and Calum McFarlane’s side have already slipped further down the Premier League table into ninth. Brentford have jumped into sixth after beating West Ham.
It heaps the pressure on interim boss McFarlane to win his second game as Chelsea’s temporary manager on Monday night when the Blues host Nottingham Forest. A win could see Chelsea return into sixth place.
As things stand, sixth place means Europa League football – but it could possibly mean more. If they are to achieve sixth, Chelsea will need their best players to return to form and Moises Caicedo is one of those.
Matty Cash says Moises Caicedo is the best tackler he’s ever seen
This season, Chelsea’s best players have failed to come to the fore. Cole Palmer and Reece James have struggled with injury, Enzo Fernandez has his sights set on Real Madrid and Pedro Neto is not himself.

Then, there is Caicedo. Often so reliable in midfield, the Ecuadorian has seen his form dip in recent weeks despite signing a new contract. Aston Villa’s Matty Cash was asked to build the perfect footballer.
Lionel Messi was his vote for left foot, Kevin De Bruyne the right. Adama Traore for strength, and Sergio Busquets for IQ. Asked for the best tackler he’s ever seen, he picked Caicedo on Stan Football’s TikTok.
How Matty Cash can help Chelsea reach the Champions League
With four Premier League games left to play for Chelsea and McFarlane, any chance of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition is over. That is, unless England is awarded a sixth Champions League spot.
The European coefficient has already handed the Premier League an extra spot, meaning fifth position guarantees Champions League football. But there is an avenue that sees sixth also mean qualification.
The winner of the Europa League immediately gets Champions League football. With Cash’s Villa in the top five and the semi-finals of the Europa League, winning the latter would see them win two tickets.
That means they would hand one qualification method over, turning sixth place into Champions League football. A win against Forest sees Chelsea go sixth, and Paul Merson thinks it is a likely scenario.
However, Merson’s comments came before Aston Villa lost the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals to none other than Chelsea’s Monday night opponents, Forest. All Chelsea can do is win on Monday.
