‘Over the weekend’: Manchester United have now decided they want 24-year-old Chelsea attacker - journalist
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack that Manchester United have reignited their interest in Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic.
The American is expected by many to be leaving at the end of the season, given his contract is set to enter its final year at Stamford Bridge.
He has also struggled in recent seasons to secure a regular starting place in the Blues’ attack.
The 24-year-old was handed a start to face Everton last weekend. A lot of supporters will have been hoping to see Mykhailo Mudryk start on the left.
Pulisic however made his first start since returning from injury, and failed to set the world alight alongside goalscorers Joao Felix and Kai Havertz.
He may well have been sold back in January, when the club underwent a mid-season rebuild. However, the fact he was injured made it impossible for him to be sold, and he remains in west London right now.
United want Pulisic
One of the sides who had reported interest in signing him were Manchester United. Phillips has claimed that they have recently reignited their ambition to sign him.
He said: “I was told over the weekend that Manchester United have reignited their interest in Christian Pulisic and are considering a summer move.
“The club will look to sell any players in the last year of their contract this summer if they are not going to extend their deals.”
Pulisic looks set to be one of a number of players who will be on the move when the season comes to an end.
Hakim Ziyech was almost granted a loan move to PSG in January, and will almost certainly be looking to find a new club when the opportunity arises.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also surely set to be gone too, after he’s been absent for numerous weeks now from the setup.
