'At the moment': Hasselbaink delivers Potter verdict amid 'difficult time' for Chelsea
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has urged Chelsea to stick with Graham Potter despite the Blues losing their tenth Premier League game of the season in a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Speaking on Sky Sports via the Daily Mail, the former Stamford Bridge star claimed that the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager needed time to with his young squad to get the best out of the team, even with Chelsea currently on course for their worst league finish this century.
Chelsea currently sit 11th in the Premier League standings, five points off a UEFA Europa Conference League spot and 11 off Tottenham in fourth, and for many supporters, this latest loss to Villa must be the last straw from Potter, who is quickly becoming public enemy no. 1 for fans.

Indeed, Potter appears to be a dead man walking, yet for Hasselbaink, the former Chelsea hero believes that the English coach should be given more time at the club despite a string of horrific performances and results, especially in the Premier League.
Hasselbaink said on what Chelsea should do: “You’ve made a decision of going with young players, so you have to give them the time to make mistakes and get it right. You have to give them time, otherwise, they are never going to be the final product if they don’t go through this period.”
The Dutch pundit later added: “And you have made the decision to go for Potter. At the moment they are in a difficult time, but I feel you have to stick with him. You have gone with young players and Potter, stick with the project.”
Chelsea must listen to Hasselbaink and back Potter to the hill

Under the former ownership, Potter would have been out before the recent international break with an interim manager already in place by Roman Abramovich until the end of the season. However, Todd Boehly seems to be taking a different stance, much to the disappointment of Chelsea supporters.
Gone are the days where the manager roundabout is part of the culture of the club, and whilst Chelsea might suffer in the short-term, Potter could be the man to take the Blues into an exciting new era in the coming years if Hasselbaink’s advice is taken on board.
