Aubameyang did something vs Brentford which no Chelsea other player has managed in the last five games

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang achieved a feat last night that no Chelsea player had managed to do in their last five games for the club.

According to Mozo Football, the striker registered two shots on target against Brentford yesterday, despite only coming on at half-time.

Aubameyang has seen his Chelsea career barely get going since joining last summer, in an addition that looked perfect for former manager Thomas Tuchel.

However, the German was sacked after just one game with the 33-year-old in his squad, which was perhaps a sign of what was to come this year.

Under Graham Potter, the prolific Premier League goalscorer was hardly even involved in the matchday squad, and even when he was it could end in embarrassing circumstances.

After being brought on as a substitute earlier this season, he was later replaced again by another player from the bench, an embarrassing circumstance for any professional, let alone one as experienced as Aubameyang.

He was also left out of the Champions League squad for the knockout stages to accommodate new signings, something which was extremely frustrating for Frank Lampard when he arrived.

The interim coach has begun to integrate the striker back into the side, and last night saw him come on when the Blues were already a goal down to Brentford.

He instantly looked a threat, and registered two shots on target as he became Chelsea’s most dangerous player in the second half.

While his efforts were eventually unsuccessful, seeing a player test the goalkeeper is at this stage a positive sight for supporters who continue to travel to Stamford Bridge.

It will be interesting to see if Aubameyang is utilised for the remainder of the season, given the likelihood that he is let go at the end of the season.
