Report: 24-year-old Chelsea player now likely to feature vs Liverpool tonight after Graham Potter sacked

Reports have claimed they Mason Mount is likely to feature for Chelsea tonight against Liverpool.

According to GOAL, the 24-year-old is in line to feature in what is set to be the club’s first game since Graham Potter was sacked.

The Blues are entering a new era for the second time this season, after seeing Thomas Tuchel replaced in the early weeks of the campaign.

The experiment of hiring the former Brighton man has failed though, coming to an end after a dire few months in West London.

Todd Boehly had been very patient based on the form shown particularly domestically by the club, however seeing his side drop into the bottom half at the weekend was too much for him to not pull the trigger.

Mount in line to feature tonight

The 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa was his final match in charge, and was an obvious sign of the beginning of the end. The players were reportedly completely oblivious to the gameplan outlined during the week.

It will be interesting to see how the team lines up with Bruno Saltor at the helm tonight, as they prepare to take on Liverpool.

In what has previously been a title-deciding game, tonight the two members of the ‘big six’ are competing to keep any hopes at qualifying for Europe alive.

One player who is reportedly set to play tonight is Mount, taking on the side he has been strongly linked with a move to at the end of the season.

Contract talks are still at a deadlock between the two parties regarding a new deal for the England international.

With Boehly insistent that players do not enter their last year with the club, a decision is likely to be made either way before this summer comes about.
