Report: What Graham Potter privately asked one Chelsea player in training, it backfired on him
Reports have claimed that Graham Potter’s eagerness to please everyone at training may have backfired when it came to his integrity as manager.
According to The Athletic, the former Brighton man was guilty of asking a player privately what the entire squad thought of him, undermining his status as the man tasked with leading the squad.
News of Potter being overlooked as the leader has been unfortunately common since he was sacked at the weekend.
The game which got him removed from his post at last was the 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa, a result which saw them drop into the bottom half of the table.
Seeing this was reportedly too much for Todd Boehly not to pull the trigger, after giving plenty of time to the underperforming manager.
Potter question backfired
Potter will feel let down by his players. It has been claimed that the staff were convinced the players were just doing what they wanted against Aston Villa rather than utilising the gameplan worked on all week.
Now, it has emerged that the it may be because of his eagerness to please that things didn’t work out, with a lot of Chelsea’s players having plenty of experience playing under the best leaders in the world.
The hunt is now on to see who will be the third manager of the season for the Blues.
Julian Nagelsmann has emerged as the early favourite for the job, after recently being sacked by Bayern Munich and replaced by former Blue Thomas Tuchel.
However, it has been reported that there is a desire to make sure that they get the right target this time, and the interview process could be extensive and last until the end of the season to carry on the project in the right direction.
