Report: 29-year-old still wants to leave Chelsea even if Mauricio Pochettino becomes manager
Reports have claimed that Romelu Lukaku still wants to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
According to 90min, the 29-year-old has a desire to remain at Inter Milan even if Mauricio Pochettino is named the new manager at the club.
Lukaku has started to find some form just when it matters for the Serie A side this season, recently scoring in the Champions League quarter-finals as they progressed to the final four.
This followed an extremely tough start to the campaign for the Belgian, as he struggled to overcome injury issues from as soon as he moved to Italy.
These eventually carried over into his World Cup campaign, where his country could not make it past the group stages in their final real opportunity as a ‘golden generation’.
Lukaku grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons against Croatia, as he missed a hatful of glorious chances that would have seen Belgium advance to the next round.
Lukaku still wants to leave
There had been reports recently that the striker may be handed another chance to make things work at Stamford Bridge with a new manager at the helm, after it seemed he had no future under Thomas Tuchel.
It had been claimed that Pochettino would be open to giving the Belgium international another chance if he does become the new manager in West London.
However, latest reports state that the striker’s ambitions are still going to lie in Milan, as he wants to extend his second spell with Inter.
Chelsea are almost certainly going to address the striking problem this summer, after another campaign where goals have been extremely hard to come by.
This is as well as the confirmed addition of Christopher Nkunku, who will no doubt impress in the frontline himself.
