Report: Chelsea players are now excited about 'intelligent' 51-year-old becoming next Blues manager
Chelsea players are reportedly excited about the prospect of Mauricio Pochettino becoming the next manager of the club, with the Argentine the new frontrunner for the job.
According to the Telegraph, the Chelsea dressing room have welcomed the approach for the 51-year-old coach, with Pochettino now expected to replace Graham Potter as the next permanent manager of the Blues over the likes of Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann.
The former PSG and Tottenham manager, who was lauded by Erik Lamela as an ‘intelligent’ coach, has been praised for his work in developing young players and his style of play, factors which have seemingly bumped Pochettino to the front of the queue despite his reputation taking a hit in recent years.

However, Chelsea players getting excited by the South American potentially joining the club is an encouraging sign, especially when you consider how many names Pochettino will have to let go this summer based on just how big the senior squad now is.
Indeed, Pochettino has shown at Tottenham that he can work wonders in the Premier League, and with the right financial backing and team working behind-the-scenes, the Argentine could be a fantastic appointment for Chelsea despite some concerns from supporters.
Pochettino could be perfect for Chelsea despite better-qualified candidates

Pochettino’s stock took a hit after his sacking at PSG, yet with Chelsea a club in transition and in need of a project manager, the former Tottenham man could be perfect for the job despite some warranted criticisms from pundits and Blue supporters.
The scale of the project Chelsea need to undertake cannot be underestimated, and whilst Pochettino will have his moments, the 51-year-old could prove to be the perfect man for the job if given the right amount of time and backing from Boehly and company.
