Report: Todd Boehly now wants to convince 23-year-old Chelsea player to stay at Stamford Bridge
Todd Boehly reportedly wants to convince Kai Havertz to stay at Chelsea this summer, with the German international one of many players who could leave Stamford Bridge.
According to Evening Standard, the American businessman wants to sign the 23-year-old and N’Golo Kante to new contracts, with the former Bayer Leverkusen star’s current deal with Chelsea due to expire in 2025, whilst his French teammate is due to leave west London as a free agent as things stand.
As per the report, Chelsea are due for a mass squad clearout with Frank Lampard currently overseeing one of the biggest teams in football, yet it appears that Havertz is one name who is set to miss the chop despite the forward’s inconsistent performances this season.

Havertz has again been the chosen focal point in the attacking line despite Chelsea signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling in the summer, with youngster David Datro Fofana also joining the west London side in the January transfer window.
Indeed, Havertz has been a divisive figure in the Chelsea fanbase since his move to the English capital in 2020, and whilst rumours are yet to emerge on talks over a new deal, this latest update could soon see Boehly’s team sit down with the German international to hash out fresh terms.
Havertz can be forgiven for wanting to leave despite Boehly interest

Boehly wanting Havertz to remain at Chelsea is perhaps no real surprise given how young the forward still is and how much room the German has to grow into a world-class player, yet for the 23-year-old himself, he can be forgiven for wanting to leave Stamford Bridge.
The attacker is yet to find his rhythm in the Chelsea team and has not solidified his role yet after three seasons, and for Havertz, a move to a club where he will have a defined position could be an appealing proposition for the former Leverkusen star, who could be tired of west London already.
