Discussed internally: Chelsea have now spoken about signing 40m PL star journalist

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea have internally spoken about signing David Raya this summer.

He told GiveMeSport that the Blues have held a conversation regarding bringing the Brentford man in this summer.

It has been widely claimed that Raya is expected to be leaving the club soon, after making it clear that he would not be signing a new deal with the Premier League side.

He currently has 12 months left on his deal, and will no doubt be leaving for free if he doesn’t get his move before then.

Tottenham had previously agreed personal terms with the Spaniard to become their new goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris.

However, the fee of around £40m being wanted by Brentford saw them look elsewhere, and Jacobs has claimed that this has been noted already too in discussions at Chelsea.

He said: “David Raya has been discussed internally. But, much like Spurs, they felt the price tag is deemed to be too high. So there’s no progress there. Emi Martinez is one to watch as well.”

The goalkeeper situation at Stamford Bridge is something that has already brought up plenty of conversation in the few weeks since Mauricio Pochettino was announced as the new manager.

It has been claimed that he is happy to go into next season with Kepa Arrizabalaga as the number one. He is of the belief that him and his staff can get the best out of him.

With Edouard Mendy already gone, there are many that will hope for the goalkeeper position to be addressed in the transfer market, especially if the likes of Inter Milan’s Andre Onana are achievable this summer.
