‘As of today’: Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are not currently considering signing £43m man despite reports
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are not currently negotiating with Lyon over the signing of Rayan Cherki.
He took to YouTube to state that up to now there are no active conversations between the two parties over a late summer move.
It is no secret at this point that Chelsea are still considering entering the market for at least one more signing before the window shuts later this week.

When listening to Mauricio Pochettino speak in press conferences and interviews, it is clear he would like further reinforcements to his attack, particularly someone who can feature in multiple positions.
This is likely due to the fact that he will not be able to call upon new signing Christopher Nkunku for a while, after he suffered an injury at the end of pre-season.
One of the club’s biggest additions of the window may not actually feature in 2023, and this has left them a bit short for quality reinforcements in the attacking areas.
No active negotiations for Cherki
A name they have been frequently linked with throughout this transfer window is Cherki. He has enjoyed a remarkable rise towards the top in his very young career. He is valued at £43m by But Football.
His ability was highlighted during the recent U21 European Championships, where he starred despite France’s shortcomings.

However, Romano has claimed that there are no real negotiations happening between the two clubs over the possible transfer right now.
He said: “I’m not aware of any negotiations between Chelsea and Lyon for Rayan Cherki, honestly. As of today, they are not negotiating with the club or the player.”
With the deadline for this window coming in just a few days’ time, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea make a move for someone without having a previous interest in their services.
