‘On a different planet’: ESPN pundit says Chelsea are trying to sign a midfielder so much worse than Moises Caicedo
Craig Burley says that there’s miles between the ability of Chelsea targets Moises Caicedo and Tyler Adams.
The Blues are linked with a number of defensive midfielders in this summer transfer window, including Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Leeds United’s Tyler Adams.
The Guardian claimed last night that Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign 21-year-old Caicedo from Brighton.
Meanwhile, 90min reported this week that Chelsea are frontrunners to sign 24-year-old Adams from Leeds.

ESPN pundit Burley can understand Chelsea speculation to Leeds and United States star Adams.
However, he rates him as so much worse than Blues priority target Caicedo.
Burley told ESPN: “I don’t mind Adams if the price is right. I think he can be coached. He’s got a little edge to him. He was the best of that American bunch at Leeds. He’s a good player. He’s a good ball-winner. He’s still a little raw at times.
“I don’t mind Tyler Adams at all, but Moises Caicedo is on a different planet.”

If you had asked us 24 hours ago if Caicedo and Adams would be a great double signing, we would’ve given a big yes to that question.
However, recent developments mean we’re greedy to hope Chelsea sign both Caicedo and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia to bolster the midfield.
Sky Sports has claimed on Twitter today that Southampton plan to reject Chelsea’s £48million bid for Lavia this week. The 19-year-old midfielder is valued at just £50million, though.
We would be over the moon if Mauricio Pochettino’s side manage to sign both Caicedo and Lavia for the centre of the park.
