Report: Mauricio Pochettino has really helped persuade £40m Chelsea player to stay now
Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino has been key in convincing Levi Colwill to stay at Chelsea for the future.
According to The Athletic, the manager has made an impact on the player both in public and in private as he looks set to put pen to paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Last night saw plenty of advances in Chelsea’s efforts to keep Colwill this summer, after plenty of reports had speculated he could be on the move.

After a successful campaign on loan at Brighton last season, it was clear to see why the overachieving side of the season were keen to bring in him on a permanent basis.
However, their offers capping at £40m in Chelsea’s eyes didn’t even seem worth considering, with them viewing the youngster as a crucial player who was not for sale.
Pochettino key role in convincing Colwill
Now, interest in signing him will surely finally disappear as he gets ready to commit his long-term future to West London.
It had previously been claimed that a guarantee of first team minutes from the manager is something that would have helped make his mind up, and this must have been a factor in both his and Pochettino’s thinking.

The only negative connotation of the imminent announcement is that it may make their efforts to sign Moises Caicedo from the Amex Stadium.
They had already hit a wall regarding the price to pay for the Ecuador international, with Brighton insisting on receiving Colwill in exchange.
It may now take a club-record fee, beating the one they paid for Enzo Fernandez just months ago, for them to find the perfect partner for him going into next season.
