'I would': John Terry claims he would have loved to play with £110k-a-week Chelsea star

John Terry says Thiago Silva is the current Chelsea player he would’ve loved to play with.

Chelsea legend John Terry, who retired in 2018, is one of the best defenders ever produced in England.

The Blues icon was asked this week which member from the current squad at Stamford Bridge would he have loved to play alongside during his playing days.

Some people may not be surprised to hear he picked a fellow centre-back.

“I would love to have played with Thiago,” Terry said, as quoted by Simon Phillips’ Substack.

In our view, Thiago Silva ranks among some of the greatest centre-backs of the 21st century. The same goes for Terry, too.

Silva, who turns 39 later in September, continues to defy logic by playing his football at the top level well into his late thirties.

The Brazilian centre-half finished last season as one of the few Chelsea players with any credit in the bank for his consistent and strong performances.

Some are beginning to put a few question marks against his name at the start of this new campaign, but Mauricio Pochettino is sticking with him for now.

Hopefully, the £110,000-a-week star (Spotrac) comes back after the international break in good form.

We highly doubt a defence with a peak Silva and peak Terry at the heart of it would concede many goals.

Blues supporters have been very fortunate in the past couple of decades to watch some of the elite centre-backs in the sport.
