'Sticky results': Gary Cahill now makes Mauricio Pochettino prediction after slow start at Chelsea

Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is confident that Mauricio Pochettino will turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have made a poor start to the new season, taking just four points from their first four games, but Cahill has no doubts about Mauricio Pochettino and has backed the Argentine to get his old side through this tricky period.

Speaking to Hayters TV, the retired England international said: “They’ve had a few sticky results and that will give them some experience. In contrast to that, the manager has obviously got bundles of experience in this league, so I think he’s a great person to guide them through this.”

Under Pochettino, Chelsea have only managed to win one Premier League match so far, which came against newly-promoted Luton Town.

It is not the start the former Tottenham Hotspur boss would have wanted.

Mauricio Pochettino can turn things around at Chelsea

It is still very early into the season and Pochettino’s reign at Stamford Bridge. With time, there is no reason why he cannot get Chelsea back on track again.

Pochettino is obviously a very capable coach, managing at two top clubs in Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham before his arrival in west London, and has some really good players at his disposal.

It was only last year when Enzo Fernandez was helping Argentina to win the World Cup, while Raheem Sterling, who is such an experienced attacker, has rediscovered his best form.

It was the former Manchester City man who led Chelsea to their only league win so far, grabbing a brace against Luton. Without him, Pochettino’s side would probably be without a single victory in the top flight.

After all the money that Chelsea have been spending, their start to the new campaign has arguably been unacceptable. However, with not even five games being played, Pochettino’s back is not against the wall just yet.
