'We are going to help': Mauricio Pochettino now determined to support £50m Chelsea player after setback
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is determined to help Raheem Sterling win an England recall.
Raheem Sterling was left out of the Three Lions’ squad for games against Ukraine and Scotland during the recent international break, and Mauricio Pochettino now wants to ensure there is not a repeat next month.
Speaking before Chelsea’s Premier League match versus Bournemouth, the Argentine told the Daily Mirror and other outlets: “He is desperate to play for the national team.
“We were talking the day after and we said to him, ‘We are going to help you to earn your way back into the national team. You need to train, to keep going, playing well for your club and for sure the coach is going to see and you will have more possibility to join the national team.’ “

Sterling’s exclusion from the Three Lions’ squad can be deemed quite harsh.
The winger, who cost Chelsea £50m when he joined from Manchester City last year, was in great form prior to the international break, scoring two goals in his first four top-flight appearances.
Raheem Sterling can win England recall
Sterling returning to England’s squad for October’s round of international fixtures is definitely not impossible.
If the 28-year-old can maintain his form, then there is no way that Gareth Southgate can overlook him, especially after his side’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Ukraine.
Having delivered for the Three Lions on numerous occasions, they probably could have done with him in that game.

Ultimately, if Sterling continues to score goals for Chelsea but is omitted from Southgate’s next squad, it would be a huge shock.
For now, though, the former City man will be concentrating on helping the Blues to win matches and climb the table.
After the strong starts the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion have made to the new season, finishing in the top four is already beginning to look like a hard task for Pochettino’s men.
