'Fantastic': Mauricio Pochettino hails Brentford man ahead of Saturday's clash with Chelsea
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has praised Brentford’s Thomas Frank ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League meeting.
Chelsea host Brentford on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge, with the visitors winning this fixture on the previous two attempts.
The Blues are starting their new journey this season with Mauricio Pochettino in the manager’s seat. He’s got off to a promising start and is winning over supporters, albeit the results haven’t quite matched the level of performances.
Meanwhile, Brentford are in the secure and impressive hands of Thomas Frank. The 50-year-old’s one of the most underrated managers around for his work at Brentford since he joined them back in 2018.
Kind words from Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino has expressed his huge admiration for Brentford’s boss.
The two will lock horns tomorrow afternoon in a league game that is likely to be played with real pace and aggression from both sides.
When discussing Frank, Pochettino said via Football.London: “He is doing a fantastic job in a club that can develop his idea. I think he is doing a fantastic job.”
Interestingly, Frank reciprocated the praise during his own Friday press conference. The Brentford manager said via his club’s X account that Pochettino has done “fantastically his whole coaching career”.
London derbies
There’s a lot of London derbies to play in the Premier League this season with the division stacked with clubs from the capital.
It’s been a mixed bag so far this league season against London clubs. The Blues recorded a 2-2 draw last weekend at home to Arsenal. Previously, they won away 2-0 at Fulham and were beaten 3-1 away at West Ham.
Chelsea still have to play Brentford, Tottenham and Crystal Palace to complete the set of London clashes in the first half of the season.
There’s been no argument that the Blues have been the dominant force in the capital during the past couple of decades, especially when you throw in the European successes alongside the domestic trophies. Some of the neighbours are getting much louder this season, though.
