'That is just ridiculous': Alan Brazil now reacts after what's happened to £50m Chelsea player recently
Pundit Alan Brazil has now claimed he is baffled at what ha happened to Raheem Sterling in recent weeks.
He told TalkSPORT that the fact he has not been called up to the England squad recently is stunning, and felt their chances of winning the upcoming European Championships instantly increase with his presence.
Yet again, Sterling was snubbed by Gareth Southgate for a place in the England side for the dead rubber qualification games.
He remained at Cobham with the likes of Reece James and Levi Colwill, who would have been part of their country’s side if they did not pull out due to injury.
Many pundits have been stunned that the 28-year-old’s form has not been rewarded with a return to his country.
Brazil and fellow pundit Gabby Agbonlahor had a discussion where they couldn’t work out why he wasn’t there, with some out of form stars continuing to get called up.
Brazil on Sterling
Agbonlahor said: “There’s a reason why Sterling isn’t being picked, it doesn’t make any sense to me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Sterling doesn’t make the squad.”
Brazil replied: “I’m sorry – that is just ridiculous. The way he is playing, it is ridiculous, sometimes you have to think about that’s gone now, how do I win this tournament?”
To which Agbonlahor continued: “Sterling has never let England down. In the Euros, he was our best player, some important goals, he was outstanding, in the form that Rashford is in and still getting over Sterling, it’s baffling.”
Chelsea fans will just be hoping that he can continue his good form when Premier League football returns this weekend.
He will be one of the first names on the teamsheet when Mauricio Pochettino’s side make the trip up north to face Newcastle United.
