Chelsea think their 21-year-old youngster has 'huge potential' and is now ready to make an impact - journalist
There’s a belief within Chelsea that Cesare Casadei has a really bright future ahead of him.
That is according to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Cesare Casadei, who’s just 21, spent the first half of the season out on loan with Championship leaders Leicester City.
However, the box-to-box midfielder’s loan spell was ended prematurely yesterday when it was confirmed that he’s retuned to Stamford Bridge.
So, what’s next for the Italian youngster?
Romano has explained that Casadei’s immediately started training with Chelsea’s first-team group this weekend. Incidentally, they’re currently preparing for Tuesday’s semi-final cup tie against Middlesbrough.
Apparently, the Blues think that the 21-year-old’s got “huge potential”. They believe he’s now ready to make an impact in the senior squad, too.
“Cesare Casadei will start training under Mauricio Pochettino already today as Chelsea decided to recall him,” Romano said on X.
“Understand club believes Casadei has huge potential and can help the squad with immediate effect.”

It looks like the average age of Chelsea’s squad will get even lower with Casadei thrown into the mix for the second half of the campaign.
We’re intrigued to see if he can make a difference to the Blues squad because it feels like an odd decision to end his loan.
If you’ve watched him play much this season, you’ll be aware he’s physically very capable and there’s no denying the potential. However, he wasn’t a nailed-on starter for promotion chasers Leicester and his game intelligence needs a lot work.
This could be massive leap asking him to come into Chelsea’s fold and compete from day one. He’s clearly highly rated, though.
Speaking via La Repubblica earlier this month, Italy manager Luciano Spalletti admitted Casadei’s in his sights for the men’s national side.
