'I think': Joe Cole says one Chelsea man has been 'fantastic' so far this season
Joe Cole has given a huge vote of confidence when discussing Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues appointed Mauricio Pochettino, 51, into the manager’s dugout last summer.
It’s been an up and down first half of the season at Stamford Bridge, with inconsistent results the biggest problem to overcome for the young squad.
As it stands, Chelsea sit ninth in the Premier League table. Meanwhile, they face Middlesbrough on Tuesday night in a Carabao Cup semi-final second leg that they current trail 1-0 on aggregate.

Pundit and former Chelsea star Joe Cole thinks Pochettino has done well so far during his first season in West London.
Cole told Mail Sport: “It needs time to breathe and time to grow and Pochettino is proven with that. I think he’s been fantastic since he’s come in the club and one of his jobs is to give this team a bit of patience in time to step up.
“It’s important that there’s patience. Chelsea are where Chelsea are at the moment.
“There’s no getting away from that and the way out of it is not a snap decision. The way out of it is careful, considerate transfers.
“Sticking with the manager. Understanding the process and moving forward.”
Mauricio Pochettino has been fantastic
We wouldn’t quite go down the same train of thought as Cole.
Yes, we’re happy with Pochettino in his role still and want him to get time. But he shouldn’t be immune for criticism for some questionable tactical decisions throughout the season.
Journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle earlier this week that Chelsea do still fully believe in Pochettino and there’s no plans to get rid of him.
We suspect the mood within the fanbase will be pretty low if the Blues are dumped out of the League Cup next week, but it’s time for these owners to stick by a man in the dugout for an extended period.
