£12m Chelsea player confirms he is back in first team training ahead of Conference League tie

Managing a squad the size of Chelsea’s right now is not an easy task, especially for a new manager.

Enzo Maresca has already been forced to make some big decisions when it comes to his squad, and he made the call to drop Raheem Sterling completely for the opening game of the season against Manchester City.

It clearly didn’t go down well with the England international, who released a statement through his camp stating he was looking for clarity in his situation.

Sterling was not the only player who has featured for the Blues as recently as last season that was nowhere to be seen when it came to the squad for the first game of the campaign.

One player who was utilised frequently off the bench late last season by Mauricio Pochettino was Cesare Casadei, however he was one of those not involved in any capacity.

He may be back in action sometime soon though. Casadei posted on his own Instagram story a photo of him in training, saying he is now back.

Reports have claimed that the club are fielding offers for Casadei this summer, with a number of clubs, particularly in Italy, keen on his services.

The Italian was one of the first players signed under the Todd Boehly regime, with big things hoped for his future at Stamford Bridge after his £12m move.

Casadei could stay because of Lesley Ugochukwu loan

It doesn’t seem to have worked out up to now, and it does seem as if time is running out fast for him in West London.

It remains to be seen if he is handed an opportunity to feature for Chelsea in the Conference League qualifier first leg on Thursday against Servette, with the Blues expected to be the dominant side in that tie.

His only hope at remaining at the club could well be the fact that Lesley Ugochukwu has already secured himself a loan move to Premier League side Southampton, opening a place up for him in midfield.
