'Clearlake recognise': What Chelsea's owners have now accepted about their time at the club - journalist
While it is currently the international break, things have not been quiet at Chelsea over these last few days.
Behdad Eghbali, co-founder of Clearlake Capital, who are the majority shareholder of Chelsea, and Todd Boehly have dominated the headlines.
It has been reported that following a break down in relationship between Eghbali and Boehly, the two parties want to buy each other out.
As for what has been happening on the pitch, Clearlake are, understandably, not satisfied with Chelsea’s performances since they took over the club.

Clearlake Capital’s view of Chelsea tenure so far
Last season, Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League, failing to qualify for the Champions League as a result.
The campaign before that, the Blues came 12th, so Clearlake and Boehly are yet to have much success in the Premier League since becoming owners of the club.
According to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, the former have accepted that mistakes have been made and that results have not been up to scratch.
Speaking about Clearlake and Boehly on X, he said: “Clearlake recognise mistakes have been made and results and performances need to improve.”
Boehly has a 30-year vision for Chelsea, but the American may not even get three years at the club if his relationship with Eghbali does not improve.
Chelsea’s results under Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly
It is clear for everyone to see that Chelsea have regressed massively since being taken over by Clearlake and Boehly.
The Blues went from winning the Champions League to finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Their decline can be put down to a lot of reasons, with many feeling that the club’s recruitment has not been good enough.
Under their current ownership, Chelsea have spent a lot of money on young players with potential instead of signing experienced footballers.
Mykhailo Mudryk was one of those young signings when he joined the club in 2023, and the winger has really struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Jamie O’Hara recently described Mudryk as “clueless”, which is harsh. But it shows just how tough the 23-year-old has found it at Chelsea. Such additions are undoubtedly one factor behind the Blues’ fall from grace.
