Report: What Clearlake now want Todd Boehly to do at Chelsea
Todd Boehly has had some very important roles at Chelsea since his consortium and Clearlake Capital took over the club.
In the summer of 2022, Todd Boehly acted as interim sporting director, while today he is currently Chelsea‘s chairman.
Boehly is, of course, no longer sporting director, with Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart now sharing that role.
And if Clearlake had it there way, the American would not be chairman either. At present, there is a power struggle at Chelsea involving Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

Clearlake want change of chairmanship at Chelsea
As things stand, Boehly is set to be replaced as chairman by a Clearlake nominee in 2027.
However, it looks like Clearlake want him out now. According to The Guardian, they believe that the 50-year-old should consider stepping down immediately.
The same outlet, though, has claimed that Boehly’s people have deemed the idea of him stepping down as a “non-starter”.
Things are starting to get a bit ugly behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge. Eghbali has been accused of being “obsessed” with transfers.
Who should be Chelsea chairman?
Boehly has a sporting background, with the Chelsea co-owner being involved with the Los Angeles Dodgers before he took over the Blues.
Ultimately, chairman probably is a position that he is qualified for, though not too many Chelsea fans will be bothered about who has the chairmanship at the club.
They will be more concerned about the sporting directors and the other recruitment staff at Cobham. While Chelsea have had some success in the transfer market, namely Cole Palmer, there have also been a lot of misses.
Mykhailo Mudryk is a prime example. He has really struggled at Stamford Bridge, with Scott Minto recently questioning Mudryk’s quality. The winger scored just five goals in 31 league appearances last season.
Chelsea’s recruitment is probably a bigger issue than who is or isn’t chairman of the club.
