'Top player': TalkSPORT pundit now claims Noni Madueke is a better footballer than £100m man

Enzo Maresca has a lot of talented attackers in his Chelsea squad, including Noni Madueke.

Chelsea signed Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven for around £29m back in the 2023 January transfer window, and he is now starting to look like a real bargain.

The winger scored a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, helping his side to an impressive 6-2 win.

At 22, there is still room for improvement. For example, Pedro Neto wasn’t happy with Madueke’s decision-making during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over West Ham United last weekend.

Jamie O’Hara picks Noni Madueke over Jack Grealish

Despite being a former Tottenham Hotspur player, Jamie O’Hara has admitted that he is a fan of Madueke.

O’Hara has even claimed that he would choose Madueke over Jack Grealish, who cost Manchester City £100m.

When it was put to him by Jermaine Pennant on talkSPORT that Madueke would not get into City’s side ahead of Grealish and Savinho, O’Hara said: “He gets over Grealish. Come on, mate. He does. I think he’s a top player. I really like him.”

Madueke has now been challenged to reach Bukayo Saka’s level by another talkSPORT pundit, Jason Cundy.

Noni Madueke will surpass Jack Grealish

Even if Grealish is the better player than Madueke, you would expect the Chelsea star to eventually surpass him.

Grealish is seven years older than his England teammate and his numbers at City have been extremely underwhelming.

Last season, the 29-year-old only managed to score three goals in the Premier League. Madueke equalled that tally in just one game this term.

When it comes to beating defenders one-v-one, Madueke is also the superior player. As per FBref, Madueke is completing 2.83 successful take-ons per 90 mins, while Grealish is recording 1.38.

The playing styles of their respective teams perhaps have to be taken into account. At City, there is arguably less risk-taking with the ball, with Pep Guardiola being the master of possession. But whatever the case, it is just one area where Madueke is currently doing better than Grealish in.
