Enzo Maresca makes Pedro Neto decision: Chelsea predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest

Chelsea wrap up before the international break by hosting Nottingham Forest this weekend at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon at home to Forest, where they’ll be aiming to keep this winning streak going. Interestingly, the Blues have won their last five consecutive matches across all competitions, including their previous three in the league.

Enzo Maresca, the head coach, made 11 changes to his Chelsea side in Thursday night’s 4-2 victory over Gent in the Conference League group stages. We’d expect him to go back to the players that have been performing in the league, though.

Chelsea predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest

Robert Sanchez will return to the starting line-up to continue as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. There’s no doubt he’s under pressure after his poor display last weekend in the win against Brighton, though.

The back four begins with Malo Gusto back in as the right-back. There’s two statistics that prove Gusto is the best full-back in the Premier League this season.

Wesley Fofana returns as the first of two starting centre-backs. For what it’s worth, we think Tosin Adarabioyo is breathing down his neck with impressive cup performances, but it’s Fofana who still starts in the league XI.

Alongside him, Levi Colwill is recalled from his midweek rest in Europe to star at centre-half.

At left-back, Marc Cucurella is selected as such a consistent individual this season. It’s worth pointing out that Renato Veiga is turning out to be superb cover in this spot.

In midfield, Moises Caicedo returns as the deep-lying playmaker, and he’ll be hoping to continue his excellent form.

Enzo Fernandez will partner him again in the centre of the park as the duo look to keep building this solid partnership.

In the number 10 position, Cole Palmer obviously starts as the Blues talisman. Let’s see what he’s get up his sleeves after a remarkable four-goal performance against Brighton last time out.

On the right wing, there’s perhaps the biggest selection decision for the manager. Noni Madueke is likely to get the nod again as the starter because we can’t see Maresca changing a winning side in the Premier League, but make no mistake that Pedro Neto is quickly coming for the position. Neto scored again in midweek versus Gent and looked extremely lively.

The opposite wing is filled by Jadon Sancho, who’s created an assist in each of his three Chelsea appearances so far.

Up front, Nicolas Jackson leads the line again as the first-choice striker for the Premier League games. Christopher Nkunku has been outstanding this season with seven goals across all competitions, but he’s playing second fiddle to Jackson in the league.
