'He's doing very good': Enzo Maresca shares the two things Noni Madueke is doing that is impressing him

Noni Madueke has been one of Chelsea’s best players so far this season, scoring in their last Premier League fixture just before the international break.

In total, Noni Madueke has scored four goals in the top flight this term. Only Cole Palmer has netted on more occasions for Chelsea.

Before club football returned this weekend, WhoScored had Madueke as the fifth-highest rated 22-year-old in Europe.

While Madueke has been effective in front of goal in the current campaign, Enzo Maresca has also been impressed with his contribution off the ball.

Ahead of Chelsea’s game against Liverpool later, Maresca has praised Madueke for his pressing and tracking back.

“In football, I don’t think talent is enough,” the Chelsea manager was quoted as saying by The Irish News. “You need more. It’s not only about Cole, it’s about all the attacking players that we have.

“You see how Noni in this moment is pressing forward, running back. He’s doing very good not just because he is scoring.”

It has been claimed that Maresca has also been pleased with Madueke in training. The winger has started all but one of his side’s fixtures in the Premier League this season, so the Italian is clearly happy with him at this moment in time.

Enzo Maresca could drop Noni Madueke against Liverpool

While Madueke is one of Chelsea’s in-form players right now, it would not be a complete shock if Maresca left him on the bench for the Liverpool game.

Going to Anfield to take on the league leaders, the 44-year-old may want an extra body in midfield.

It could see Romeo Lavia start against Liverpool, while Madueke drops down to the bench. Some Chelsea fans will say, though, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

The current team that Maresca has been using has been getting the job done. Chelsea have taken 14 points from their first seven games and have only lost once.

However, Liverpool will present a different challenge to what the Blues have been facing recently. Maresca may have to adapt his tactics and team a bit if Chelsea are to return to Stamford Bridge with something.
