National media have one complaint about Chelsea's Noni Madueke's performance in 5-0 England win

It was back-to-back England starts for Chelsea’s only representitive in the final match before Thomas Tuchel takes over the reins as head coach.

Noni Madueke was given another start on the right-wing for the Three Lions, who eventually made lightwork of the Republic of Ireland in a 5-0 win.

Roy Keane was impressed by Madueke in England’s win last week against Greece, when he provided the assist for the opening goal of the game.

He has clearly been working on his finishing while on international duty too. Madueke beat Jude Bellingham in a shooting competition in training.

National media criticise Noni Madueke’s end product for England

Yesterday saw a decent performance for the Chelsea man, however he will be disappointed he didn’t get in on the act before he was replaced late in the second half.

National media seemed to all have the same criticism of his performance, wondering if his decision making in the final third could be better.

The Mail Online said: “Noni Madueke: 6.5. Was England’s most dangerous early on but faded. Decision-making let him down at times. Still, his corner led to third goal.”

The Guardian stated: “Kept getting into promising positions but lacked accuracy. Would benefit from releasing the ball sooner. 6.”

iNews said: “Noni Madueke: 6/10. A lively presence on the right wing and saw plenty of the ball but occasionally haphazard with his end product. Was overshadowed by Bowen who replaced him towards the end.”

Madueke looking to hold off Pedro Neto on Chelsea right-wing

This has perhaps been the only complaint of what has so far been a very promising season at Stamford Bridge for Madueke, after a summer where it looked a very realistic prospect that he could be sold.

The Blues signed Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto to make appearances on the wings, however up to now Enzo Maresca has kept faith with the England international.

It remains to be seen whether this will remain the case when Chelsea return to Premier League action up against Maresca’s old side Leicester City.

Neto has impressed on both wings in recent appearances, however would likely be more comfortable on the right, where Madueke has been predominantly featuring.

Sancho will also be looking to return to first team action after a string of injuries and illness have kept him out of action for a few games.
