How Trevoh Chalobah rates his chances of playing for Chelsea next season as club's 'plan' explained
Chelsea have pulled off a surprising move as their biggest piece of business in the January transfer window so far.
The Blues made the decision to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, despite their great efforts to sell him over the summer.
Enzo Maresca’s comments from the summer suggested he was not keen on using Chalobah this season, however he will now have a decision to make as to whether he thinks the Englishman can play a bigger role than the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo for the rest of the season.

Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are going to be out for a prolonged period of time, and this will offer Chalobah the opportunity at minutes and continuing his good form at Chelsea.
Trevoh Chalobah expects to be sold by Chelsea in the summer
It has been claimed the club still have a desire to permanently sell Chalobah at the end of the season, although he now has six months to change their mind.
Despite this, Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that the centre-back himself doesn’t see his future with the Blues.
He said: “As it stands, from my understanding, Chalobah from his side and the club’s side is not deemed to have a long-term future at the club, which I guess makes his recall all the more strange.
“He was contacted by the club, he was told he was coming. He’s never going to kick off about playing for Chelsea because he loves Chelsea, although he doesn’t necessarily think he’ll be there beyond the summer.
“Does Maresca think he’s better than Disasi and Tosin? Quite possibly, but it’s still not the long-term answer.
“I suspect if he does really well there’ll be calls for him to stay there permanently. That isn’t part of the plan at the moment, but that may change in the next six months.”

Chelsea still interested in other centre-backs in January
The Blues have been linked with a number of centre-backs to sign permanently in January too, with a more long-term plan in mind.
One of those is Chalobah’s former Crystal Palace teammate Marc Guehi, who also has history in West London.
It is more unlikely now that a January deal is possible after Chalobah’s recall, however a clause in Guehi’s sale makes Chelsea prime contenders to sign him should he be on the move.
