Renato Veiga gets wish Enzo Maresca couldn't give him at Chelsea as deal to join Juventus is agreed - Romano
Chelsea are set to see one of their summer signings leave the club on loan for the rest of the season as he seeks more minutes in 2025.
Renato Veiga is set to be on the move to Juventus for the rest of this campaign on loan, with there no option for the Serie A side to make the deal permanent.
It was reported at the start of January that the Portugal international was keen to leave Chelsea, with Veiga actually agreeing personal terms with Borussia Dortmund.

Renato Veiga promised minutes at centre-back for Juventus
However, the goalposts have somewhat changed now, with Chelsea unwilling to let one of their most versatile players leave the club just months after he joined.
Enzo Maresca dropped Veiga from the matchday squad for the game against Wolves, describing it as a ‘technical decision’ despite no other left-back being on the bench.
It was claimed that the reason he wanted to leave was the fact that he had not been given enough opportunities to feature in the position he wanted to – centre-back.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the loan late last night, and stated that he is expected o be handed his request and feature at the centre of defence.
He said: “Juventus agree deal with Chelsea to sign Renato Veiga, here we go! Loan deal for €5m loan fee until June, no buy option clause — and then player back to Chelsea at the end of June for Clubs’ World Cup. Veiga, expected to play as CB at Juventus.”
Renato Veiga changed his mind on role at Chelsea

Chelsea were delighted with the acquisition of Veiga over the summer, with him being seen as reliable cover for a number of positions on the pitch.
The player himself said when he joined that he didn’t have a favoured position, and would fill in where needed for the team.
He said to the Chelsea website: “I’m a smart, aggressive player. I’m comfortable on the ball and I would describe myself as a complete player due to my versatility. I’m comfortable in many positions on the pitch.
“I wouldn’t say I have a favourite position because it depends on the opponent or tactical elements, but I have played at left-back, centre-back and as a defensive midfielder.”
Just months into his spell at Stamford Bridge, he seems to have changed his mind though, but will now get the chance to prove he was right all along with half a season in Italy.
