‘Ruthless’: Enzo Maresca's former teammate gives verdict on Chelsea manager that £29m Blues star would agree with
After an extremely positive start to the season, things have begun to take a downward turn for Chelsea in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca has seen his side not able to pick up a win in their last four fixtures, ones that on paper looked attractive for a side chasing down Liverpool at the top of the table.
Very few questions have been asked as to whether Maresca is the right man for the job at Stamford Bridge so far, however, he now has a job on his hands to get the Blues back on track.
One of his former teammates has now given his verdict on the Blues boss ahead of the FA Cup tie versus Morecambe on Saturday.

Mark Briggs says Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is ‘ruthless’
With no Conference League action until March now, the boss can put nearly all of his focus into Premier League games, and rotation is likely to continue to come.
There was some disappointment Maresca didn’t utilise his substitutes on Boxing Day against Fulham, with them conceding with one of the last kicks of the game.
Despite any recent fears, one man who played alongside the Italian has no fears that he can turn things around.
Mark Briggs told GiveMeSport that the boss has the ruthlessness that Chelsea have needed for a number of years now to match their quality on the pitch.
He said: “Enzo was ruthless as a player, and I think he’s the same as a head coach. He’s gone to Chelsea, knows what he wants and he’s been decisive in changing the culture and getting the players to step in line. The quality has always been there at Chelsea, but I am not sure the ruthlessness has.
“Enzo is also very adaptable and personable, qualities you need as a head coach. To be honest, his English wasn’t that great at West Brom, but he was always trying to crack jokes, and you can see how he’s close to his Chelsea players. It was the same at Leicester as well. Gone are the days of distant boot camp-like coaches. You need both authority and a soft touch, and for the players to feel like, as a manager, you are constantly part of the group.”

Enzo Maresca’s treatment of Noni Madueke proves Mark Briggs right
Despite it being his first job in the Premier League, Maresca has shown no fear despite being in one of the most scrutinised jobs in English football.
The boss has been willing to drop players from the starting side due to their inability to meet his standards, and this has been unfortunately the case more than once for Noni Madueke.
Maresca said back in December: “With Noni, I have personal relation in terms of he can do much more. He can do much more. The moment he starts to score or assist and is happy, he starts to drop a little bit and the reason why he was not playing is because I do not like the way he trained.
“He has to understand that he has to train every day good. He has to be ambitious. He scored one tonight, he has to go for the second one and the third one. He has to give more assists.
“But overall, he is doing great, he is doing fantastic. He is doing even better in terms of numbers. Noni has to understand he has to work more because he can be much, much, much better.”
Madueke was dropped from the squad entirely on Boxing Day for similar reasons, with the same fate meeting Renato Veiga too.
