Two Chelsea players have created the most chances for one another in the Premier League this season

Even though Chelsea are going through their first significant dip in the season, they’ve still been a pretty free-scoring side under Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea are now on a four-game streak in the Premier League without a win, scoring only twice during the challenging festive run. However, they’re still fourth in the division table, and Enzo Maresca has been a big positive during his first six months as the club’s head coach.

The Blues have scored 39 goals in 20 league matches so far this campaign. It’s no surprise that Cole Palmer has been a major contributor, too. In 20 league appearances this campaign, Palmer’s scored 13 goals and created six assists.

Paul Merson thinks Chelsea’s Palmer is a “special player” who is even more consistent than Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah across the whole 90 minutes of a game.

Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke top Premier League statistic

Opta data has shared that Chelsea attackers Palmer and Noni Madueke are the most productive Premier League combination in one specific area.

Interestingly, the Palmer-Madueke pairing has combined to create 21 chances for one another so far this season, which is more than any other partnership across the Premier League.

As you can see above, Madueke and Palmer sit at the top of the charts with 21 chances created for one another. They’re closely followed by Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers (20), plus Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo (19).

There’s another Chelsea representative in fourth, this time with Palmer and Nicolas Jackson (17), which is the partnership that most fans may have guessed. Liverpool stars Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah round up the top five (16).

Martin Keown spotted Madueke always looks for Chelsea teammate Palmer on the football pitch, so he deserves big credit for his accurate observation last month.

It must be a dream for every Blues attacker to link up with the intelligent Palmer when he’s roaming in the No.10 position. For Madueke, he should feel like the connection should be even better, but he’s lost his spot in the best XI recently.

Noni Madueke can do more

In general, Madueke is making progress in his game by contributing more often for Chelsea. He’s already up to six goals across all competitions this season, compared to eight goals in total during the 2023/24 season.

The talented 22-year-old right-winger can still do a lot more, though.

The England international, who’ll hope to retain his spot in the national side under Thomas Tuchel, has shown flashes of brilliance so far this campaign.

The fact that Madueke has started two of the last six Chelsea games in the league is a sign of his recent dip, so it’s up to him to improve his levels on and off the pitch.

John Obi Mikel has urged Chelsea winger Madueke to get better and recapture his best form. We’d suggest giving the attacker a start this Saturday in the FA Cup third round tie at home to Morecambe, where he should be able to play himself back into a bit of form.
