Report: Chelsea have just asked about signing top goalkeeper this summer
Chelsea look poised for a busy transfer window this summer, however the magnitude of player they can target remains unclear.
It is expected that being able to offer Champions League football is going to be big for the Blues this summer, however Enzo Maresca’s side are stumbling in the race to qualify for the competition.
They currently sit fourth, however drew 0-0 to Brentford in a game where the manager rested Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, amongst other stars.
If there is one position on the pitch that Blues fans would love to strengthen then it is the goalkeeper role, played this season by a combination of Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.
Neither player has set the world alight between the sticks, and it has been reported that Maresca is keen on signing a new goalkeeper this summer who is strong with the ball at his feet.
Chelsea ask about signing Mike Maignan
One of the top names in Europe who has been linked with a move is Mike Maignan. The France goalkeeper’s contract with AC Milan comes to an end next summer.
Former Blue Olivier Giroud is a huge fan of Maignan, and the fact that he could be available for a cut-price deal is certainly an attractive prospect.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Blues have asked for information regarding the goalkeeper ahead of making a potential move for him in the upcoming window.
Chelsea and AC Milan have not been shy to do business with each other in recent years. The Serie A side currently have Joao Felix on loan from the Blues.
That deal has not worked out as hoped though, and Milan are not expected to sign Felix permanently this summer as a result.

The 29-year-old has 10 Serie A clean sheets to his name this season, whilst also boasting a very impressive set of passing stats.

There would be no doubt that Maignan would come in as first choice for Chelsea, something that would not only likely force Sanchez out, but also make it difficult for Djordje Petrovic to force his way into the Blues’ plans.
The Serbian has enjoyed an excellent season on loan at Strasbourg, leaving many to believe that the Blues actually loaned out their best goalkeeper for this campaign.
The Ligue 1 side are serious contenders to qualify for Champions League football themselves this season, and they would no doubt love their first choice goalkeeper to remain at the club if possible.
