Report: How Chelsea and Arsenal actually feel about Noni Madueke’s £48.5m price

Noni Madueke officially left Chelsea to become an Arsenal player on Friday after weeks of speculation.

Despite being Premier League and London rivals, Chelsea and Arsenal have conducted transfer business on a fairly regular basis recently. In fact, Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga have both moved from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Madueke, 23, showed flashes of brilliance during a two-and-a-half-year spell at Chelsea without ever being super consistent.

Paul Merson is shocked by Madueke’s move to Arsenal, admitting he’s “flabbergasted” by the signing. The general reaction from Gunners supporters towards the winger joining has been negative, too.

It will be interesting to see if the England international can prove his doubters wrong because he definitely has a lot of individual ability. At the same time, Chelsea can cope with his departure because they still have so many quality options in the wide areas, especially with the arrivals of Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian this summer.

How Arsenal and Chelsea feel about Noni Madueke deal

According to The Athletic, Arsenal will pay an initial fee of £48.5million, rising to £52m with add-ons for Madueke.

It is explained that Chelsea are content with the sale because they stand to make a decent profit on the £30m they paid for the attacker back in 2023 when they signed him from PSV Eindhoven.

Meanwhile, Arsenal feel they have pulled off an ‘excellent’ deal for a young player with big potential. The Gunners admire the player’s one-on-one ability, physicality and technical level.

The report adds that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Madueke’s fairly clean injury record.

Arteta believes Madueke can develop into a quality left-winger, even though he’s spent the majority of his career as a right-winger drifting infield on his left foot.

Noni Madueke’s best performance at Chelsea

As Arsenal fans will soon find out with Madueke, he is guilty of blowing hot and cold. However, the skilful winger can be impossible to stop when he’s in the right mood.

On 25 August 2024, Madueke destroyed Wolverhampton Wanderers by scoring a brilliant hat-trick in Chelsea’s 6-2 victory at Molineux Stadium in the Premier League.

Alan Shearer hailed Madueke’s complete performance and his best in a Chelsea shirt in the Wolves demolition. The reality is that the left-footed attacker didn’t do this kind of thing enough times over the course of his Blues career to truly win supporters over.
