Enzo Maresca gives immediate injury update on Cole Palmer after Chelsea's Champions League defeat

Cole Palmer was Chelsea’s star man despite their defeat to Bayern Munich, and Enzo Maresca offered an update on his fitness after he was seen nursing his groin at the end of the game.

Palmer announced himself on the Champions League stage with a fine goal and performance, however it wasn’t enough as they were defeated 3-1 by the Bundesliga giants.

It was the first game that Palmer had started since returning from a groin injury suffered in the warm-up of their second match of the season against West Ham.

Palmer’s scan returned positive results, but there is certainly an appetite from the manager to not push him back too quickly and make the problem worse.

There were worries when the attacker was holding his groin at the end of the game, however Maresca stated that he was told by the player that there is nothing to worry about.

He said to Football London: “Cole, I think he’s okay. I asked him after the game, he said that he’s okay.”

Chelsea fighting against history against Manchester United

Despite Manchester United being in a poor way for the last 18 months now, there is not a lot of confidence amongst Chelsea fans that they will pick up a victory against the Red Devils on Saturday.

This is because they have not tasted victory at Old Trafford since 2013, when Palmer would have been 11 years of age.

He already has a fine goal under his belt against Manchester United since joining Chelsea, and he will surely be part of the starting side if he is fit on Saturday.
